Accused in child neglect case facing more charges

Glenn Budgell, 34, now faces a total of 16 charges in connection with his arrest in Grand Falls-Windsor. (CBC)Twelve more charges have been laid against a central Newfoundland man who was arrested and charged last month in connection with a case of child neglect.
Glenn Budgell, 33, of Grand Falls-Windsor, appeared briefly in provincial court in the community Wednesday morning where the new charges were officially laid.
Budgell was arrested Jan. 22 in Cape Breton after police went to his home in Grand Falls-Windsor earlier that day and found a young boy who was in serious need of medical help.
After a police investigation, Budgell was charged with three counts of assault and one count of child neglect, which included accusations involving the injured boy and two other children.
Twelve new charges were laid in court on Wednesday, including:
- One count of uttering threats.
- Four counts of assault with a weapon.
- One count of aggravated assault.
- One count of assault.
- Five counts of breaching a probation order from Ontario.
Budgell, who police said moved to Grand Falls-Windsor two months before his arrest, is due back in court Feb. 22.
