(CBC)A fundraiser for Haitian earthquake relief in Glovertown, N.L. on Sunday night doubled as a celebration for the safe return of two brothers from the earthquake devastated country.

Less than 24 hours after they arrived in St. John's from Haiti, Emerson and Vaden Oram were the guests of honour at their church in the eastern Newfoundland community of Glovertown.

"It's surreal. It's unbelievable. It's like I'm in a dream," said Vaden Oram as he sat quietly beaming in the Pentecostal church. "There's moments that I feel I'm to my own memorial."

His brother Emerson walked through the pews hugging everyone in his path

"Just to know we had our families, the community and the church behind us. It's a wonderful feeling," he said. "I can't express the joy that it is."

With matching funds from the church and the federal government, they raised almost $14,000 Sunday night.

The brothers who were in Haiti on a business trip when the quake hit Jan. 12 said they'll return there to help rebuild. In fact, Emerson Oram said he'd be there within the next six weeks.
