Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams shuffled his cabinet Friday to replace government members who left politics this fall.
- Thomas Hedderson, the former fisheries minister, is now the minister of transportation.
- Clyde Jackman, who was the minister of tourism, culture and recreation, is now the minister of fisheries and aquaculture.
- Backbencher Terry French has been promoted to cabinet, taking Jackman's former tourism portfolio.
The changes became necessary after former transportation minister Trevor Taylor left politics Sept. 24. and former health minister Paul Oram retired Oct. 7.
A new health minister, Jerome Kennedy, who was the finance minister, was named weeks later, and Tom Marshall left the Justice Ministry to take over Finance.
Williams also announced Friday that member of the house of assembly Keith Hutchings is now parliamentary secretary to the minister of health and community services, and MHA Wallace Young is now parliamentary secretary to the minister of innovation, trade and rural development.
