Recount confirms Fagan as mayor of Portugal Cove-St. Philip's

A recount of votes cast in the Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, N.L. municipal election confirmed Friday that Bill Fagan is the community's mayor.
The recount found Fagan had two more votes than was first reported in Tuesday's election.
His opponent, incumbent mayor Norm Collins, requested a recount after it was revealed Fagan won by 10 votes.
Portugal Cove-St.Philip's is 10 kilometres west of St. John's.
Under the province's Municipal Affairs Act, a candidate can request a recount of municipal election results when a vote is decided by 10 or fewer votes.
