A body was discovered Monday afternoon at Cape Spear just outside St. John's.
Two hikers discovered the body at the foot of the cliff of the national historic site, and called the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the St. John's Regional Fire Department.
No one knows how long the body, which appears to be that of a younger man, has been there.
The fire department brought in its rescue unit to retrieve the body.
