A man was killed Wednesday night when two vehicles and a moose collided, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway, between Grand Falls-Windsor and Bishop's Falls.

RCMP said a woman sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Collisions involving moose on the province's highways are common, although statistics kept by the Newfoundland and Labrador government show March typically has the lowest number of reported incidents.

Most collisions with moose occur between May and October.
