A 70-year-old woman died and two other people remain in the intensive care unit at a local hospital following a fire at a seniors' complex in St. John's.
The fire broke out around midnight Friday at a condominium on Tiffany Lane in the city's east end. It's believed the fire began on the third floor of the 45-unit building.
Fire crews were impeded by high winds and cold temperatures as they battled the blaze.
Alternate arrangements were made for dozens of the building's residents. It was not immediately clear when they would be allowed back in the building.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the cause of the fire.
