A Corner Brook gas station manager is urging the thieves who took Remembrance Day poppies and money to turn the loot over to the Canadian Legion.

Two men entered an Ultramar station on Monday and removed a tray holding poppies as well as donations that customers had made.

Manager Michael Greening said the men took the tray when the cashier left the cash register to make a pot of coffee.

"That's pretty low. That ranks up there with people that would steal the Christmas pot," Greening said.

"How low can a person be to come in and steal a poppy tray, steal the money that's been gathered for vets?"

Greening said the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reviewing the station's security videotapes. He said the tapes show the two men taking the poppy tray and leaving the premises.
