A new political party has been launched in Newfoundland and Labrador, but without a leader to take it into next month's general election.
Members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Party announced the launch in St. John's on Tuesday.
Despite its title, a key focus of the party will be representing the concerns of people running small businesses, as well as residents of rural communities.
"We are all ordinary people, first and foremost," said Randy Dawe, a Clarke's Beach resident who speaks on behalf of the party.
"Ideas will come from everyone. Energy will come from everyone. It will be a truly grassroots movement."
The party has some work cut out for itself. Among other things, it has to find a leader.
Voters in Newfoundland and Labrador head to the polls on Oct. 9. Premier Danny Williams said on the weekend he was planning to call the election in about two weeks.
