Donations to a foundation that aids a St. John's children's hospital set a new record during a weekend telethon.
This year's Janeway Telethon raised $2,245,759, or about $30,000 more than last year's collection.
The telethon, broadcast on CBC Television over the weekend, drew donations from individuals, service groups, businesses and organizations.
Pledges were still coming in after the telethon signed off on Sunday evening.
The Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation is targeting this year's funds for a neonatal intensive care unit.
The Janeway is the only dedicated children's hospital in Newfoundland and Labrador, and is part of the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's.
