The SPCA in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is warning pet owners in the region to keep an eye on their cats and dogs after a wolf attacked and killed two dogs last week in the central Labrador town.
Monica Surina, vice-president of the local SPCA, said the attack happened Thursday night after the pets escaped from their yard.
"A gentleman was out with his ATV, with his young son, and he came across the remains of a dog," said Surina.
"It had been attacked by a wolf and while he was there checking it out, he happened to look up and he saw the wolf going off with a smaller dog."
Surina said it is not uncommon for wolves to venture into the town.
Wildlife officials said there is no reason to be concerned and they do not plan to try to track the animal down.
However, the SPCA is warning people to keep a close eye on their pets when they are outside.
