Steven Blackmore's relative says she witnessed alleged assault
A relative of an RCMP officer, who's accused of assaulting a woman, testified on Tuesday that she saw one of the alleged assaults.
Cpl. Steven Blackmore, 41, is facing a total of 10 charges, including assault and sexual assault.
The woman testified against her relative, as a witness for the Crown.
Crown prosecutor Jeff Summers asked her what she had seen.
"[He was] holding her down with his hands, around her upper body and neck," she said.
"I yelled out to them, and it stopped."
The witness said it was an upsetting incident, and that it happened on Christmas Day.
Blackmore's lawyer, Erin Breen, asked the witness if she'd ever seen any marks on the complainant.
The witness said she hadn't.
The complainant alleges that Blackmore assaulted her six times — once with a knife — and sexually assaulted her twice.
Blackmore is also accused of assaulting another woman, and with the careless use of a firearm.
When the Crown witness finished testifying on Tuesday, as she walked by Blackmore, they hugged one another.
The Crown still has several witnesses to call in the case.
