A 23-year-old man from Renews will appear in a St. John's courtroom on Monday in connection with a stabbing that took place in Renews over the weekend.

A 20-year-old man from Ferryland was stabbed several times in the chest on Saturday night.

He was taken to hospital, and police last reported that the man was in stable condition.

The RCMP said the stabbing was connected to a fight that broke out between several people at a beach party.

The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault, uttering threats, and two counts of breach of probation.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
