The catamaran-style passenger ferry broke down on Monday.

About 35 visitors who were stranded on the islands were flown to St. John's on Monday night on Air St-Pierre.

Then, they were bused to the Burin Peninsula town of Fortune, where the ferry arrives and departs, to pick up their vehicles.

An official at the terminal in Fortune could only confirm that there had been an unknown mechanical problem with the ferry.
