A grocery bagger working at a Coleman's grocery store in St. John's took the national title at the 2013 Grocery Innovations Canada trade show in Toronto this week.

Kayla Ball won the two-day competition on Oct. 1, competing against 27 other baggers from across Canada.

Ball said she competed two years ago and got second place in provincials, but this was her first time at the national level.

"I was just really happy to be in Toronto. I thought that was a great opportunity," she said.

"However, as it progressed and more and more came on the line, I got a little bit more nervous."

In the national finals, Ball faced off against fellow Coleman's employee and Newfoundlander Brad Brewer, from Corner Brook.

On The Go host Ted Blades took on Ball in a race on Friday.
