St. John's plane crash turns out to be false alarm
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it received a false report of a plane crash in St. John's on Monday.
Police said they were called about a small plane crash near Paddy's Pond after 5 p.m.
RNC officers, police dog services, the fire department and a Cougar helicopter subsequently searched the area between Paddy's Pond and the Goulds.
Const. Steve Curnew said a group of people flying model planes in the area eventually called the police to say it was one of their planes that crashed.
Curnew said that information was confirmed by police and the investigation was called off.
