The St. John's Legends Swim Club says Aaron Dahl, a nationally recognized coach who arrived just last fall to work with young swimmers, is no longer with the organization.
Dahl was suspended after an alcohol-related incident last Friday during one of the club's major fundraising events.
The club is not revealing details about what happened, but has emphasized that the incident did not involve any swimmers or other coaches.
In a letter sent to parents of team members last night, the swim club's board of directors said Dahl will not return to his coaching job.
Dahl came to the club last year as an award-winning coach who had helped place seven swimmers on Canada's 2012 Olympic team.
