John Albert scored two goals and Jason Jaffray picked up assists on both, as the St. John's IceCaps downed the Springfield Falcons 3-1 Saturday night at Mile One Centre.
Albert put the IceCaps on the board at 4:34 in the opening period, when he notched his 22nd goal of the season. After Jeremy Smith made the initial save on Jaffray, Albert pounced on the rebound and fired it into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Jerome Samson also scored for the IceCaps, who earned three of four points on the weekend. Tyler Beskorowany was strong in goal, stopping 23 of 24 shots.
The IceCaps continue their six-game home stand Tuesday night when they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs in the first of two back-to-back games at Mile One Centre.
