St. John's bar fined for after-hours drinking
Scanlan's Bar in St. John's was fined $350 in provincial court on Wednesday, for allowing customers to consume alcoholic beverages after hours.
The offence occurred on a Saturday last October, when inspectors found people drinking alcohol in the Water Street establishment after 4 a.m. Drinking by patrons must cease by 3 a.m.
One of the club's owners, Diane Weston, pleaded guilty in court and said the bartender on duty that night had been trying to get customers out of the bar.
The owner added she now works herself on weekends to make sure this does not happen again.
Scanlan's Bar had no previous record.
