A young man led the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on a chase through more than half the northeast Avalon early Wednesday.
An officer tried to stop the car in Torbay around 3:20 a.m., but he sped away at up to 130 k/hr.
That officer had to give up the chase, but another officer spotted the man's car on the Outer Ring Road.
The driver went as far as Paradise before heading back into St. John's.
By that time several police cars were trying to box him in.
The chase, which went on for about half an hour, finally ended on Columbus Drive when the suspect's car hit a police cruiser and then went off the road.
The driver, 23, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He will appear in provincial court on several charges, including flight from police and driving while suspended.
