Police in Labrador City suspect the same person was involved in two snowmobile crashes on Thursday afternoon.

In one case, after 3:30 p.m., the snowmobiler left the scene after colliding with a vehicle in the Stirling Crescent area.

The vehicle was extensively damaged, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said in a statement.

About an hour later, police learned that a snowmobile had crashed into a fence near a house.

"It is believed that it is the same individual responsible for the earlier collision with a vehicle," police said. "Both matters are believed to be linked and the investigations into these matters are continuing."

Police added they found an abandoned snowmobile.
