Police in St. John's say an unusual object — a sneaker — was used as a weapon during a disturbance shortly before midnight Thursday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to a home in downtown St. John's.
A man, 24, was taken into custody on several charges, including assault with a weapon. While police identified the sneaker as the weapon, officers are not yet commenting on how the footwear was used.
No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect, who was held overnight for a court appearance, also faces charges of uttering threats, mischief and breaching court orders.
