A woman who told the police that she had been sexually assaulted has wound up in trouble herself.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said a woman, 19, in Mount Pearl contacted the force with a complaint that she had been robbed at knife-point, and had been sexually assaulted.
However, police said an investigation found that the story did not hold up, and she was arrested Wednesday night.
The woman will appear in court at a later date on a charge of mischief, as well as a count of breaching a court order. She was released from custody.
