'Serious safety incident' shuts down Muskrat Falls site
Nalcor Energy confirms that the Muskrat Falls construction site has been shut down following a 'serious safety incident.'
Spokesperson Karen O'Neill said Tuesday that no injuries were reported.
It involved Astaldi, one of the many companies carrying out work having to do with the construction of the hydroelectricity project.
"A safety initiative was taken by Astaldi at their Muskrat Falls work site following a potential near miss safety incident," said O'Neill.
O'Neill added that Nalcor was told by Astaldi that they had 'immediately taken action and decided to suspend their work at the site.'
She said a full investigation into the incident is set to take place.
Nalcor gave no timeline as to when work will resume at the site.
