The Binghamton Senators swept a two-game series against the IceCaps Saturday night in New York, but it was an impressive save by Bud Holloway that kept people talking on social media Sunday.
As leading scorer for the IceCaps, Holloway is known for taking shots, not saving them.
But in the third period of Saturday night's game — with goalie Eddie Pasquale on the bench for an extra attacker, and the IceCaps trailing 3-1 — Holloway dove, smacking away a shot on an otherwise empty net.
The announcer couldn't deny the impressive dive, saying "even the fans here in Binghamton [are] appreciating that effort by Holloway."
Morgan Ellis scored the lone goal for St. John's late in the third period, but Binghamton's Buddy Robinson later capitalized on the IceCaps empty net, sealing another victory for the Senators.
On Friday night, the IceCaps were nipped 2-1.
St. John's continues its road trip on Wednesday night in Albany, facing the Devils.
