Search continues for missing Long Cove man

The RCMP is leading the search for a missing boater in the Trinity Bay area who left for Bellevue Beach on Saturday.

The search for a missing Long Cove man has moved to land, after his boat was found burned and aground near Bull Arm on Tuesday night.

The RCMP is leading the search for the missing boater.    

The man, 61, left Bellevue Beach on Saturday morning.

He was headed to his cabin in Stock Cove in a 30-foot fibreglass boat.

When the man failed to return, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax was alerted. They dispatched a Cormorant helicopter to assist in the search.

Police said when the man's boat was located, he was not onboard.

An extensive ground search started on Wednesday morning, along with air support from a provincial government helicopter.
