Torbay, NLTorbay

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating after a fire broke out Sunday night at a scout camp in Torbay.

Drivers on the Torbay bypass road reported seeing flames from Camp Carey Road about 10:30 p.m.

Torbay fire chief Mike McGrath said when crews arrived, a building that housed a kitchen and bunkhouse was engulfed in flames.

McGrath said crews put the fire out, but they had to demolish the building with a backhoe because it was unstable.

Nobody was injured in the blaze.
