A man who caused a stir at a St. John's shopping mall and nearby hospital was taken into police custody on Tuesday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said they received a complaint of threats being uttered at the Avalon Mall around 9 p.m.

A little later, a second call was received at the nearby Health Sciences Centre involving alleged threats made against Memorial University campus security staff.

The RNC arrested a man, 47, and held him overnight on three counts of uttering threats.

He was also charged with breaching court orders.
