The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook is investigating two separate cases of assault.

On Saturday morning a patrol officer intervened in the Murphy Square area, where a 19-year-old woman assaulted a 17-year-old female on the parking lot.

The accused was arrested for common assault and was released to appear in provincial court at a later date.

Police said the two were known to each other, however no injuries were sustained.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl was arrested for assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Both are residents of Corner Brook.

The accused teen was released to the custody of her mother to appear in youth court at a later date.

The victim sustained a minor injury during the assault.
