Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have arrested a suspect in a bear spray attack in St. John's.
Police said they arrested the man at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A man assaulted another man in his mid 40s and a woman in her late 30s at a home on Merrymeeting Road on Tuesday night.
This latest incident is one of dozens of attacks involving bear spray in the past couple of years.
RNC Cst. Suzanne Fitzgerald said the public should remember that bear spray is actually prohibited.
"It is a weapon considered dangerous to the public, if it's carried for the purpose … if it's not carried for which the purpose it was actually intended for, which is for hunting bears or their own protection," said Fitzgerald.
The suspect will appear in court in St. John's on Thursday morning.
