The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's arrested a man on Friday on a number of offences, including assault.

Police arrested the 21-year-old around noon in the central part of the city.

According to the RNC, the victim received minor injuries and was treated at hospital before being released.

The accused is charged with breach of recognizance and breach of probation.

He was detained in police lockup for a court appearance on Saturday morning.
