The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a man in St. John's for assault Saturday night in the city's west end.

Police responded to a report of an incident that happened around 7:30 p.m.

A man, 26, was arrested and charged with assault and breach of a court order.

He was held to make a court appearance Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the RNC arrested a woman, 26, in the centre city area around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Police said there was a disturbance at a residence in the Blackler Avenue area.

The woman was arrested and charged with public mischief and breach of court orders.

She was held over for a court appearance on Sunday.
