Province to give update on Labrador road work tender
The provincial government is expected to make an announcement on Wednesday about a tender for paving work in Labrador, which includes the stretch of road left unpaved by Humber Valley Paving (HVP).
Nick McGrath, the minister of Transportation and Works, is expected to announce that the contract will go to Pavex Ltd. for $42 million.
Pavex was the lowest bidder, next to Grey Rock Services Inc., which would cost more than $45 million.
Work will include the 60 kilometres of road that Humber Valley Paving left unpaved when its contract was ended, along with 80 kilometres of new paving.
The province had $7-million left over from the previous contract, but it's unclear from the new total whether that money will cover the work that was left undone.
