Porter contracting out St. John's workforce
An airline company has decided it will contract out its workforce at St. John's International Airport.
Porter Airlines said it has 18 employees in St. John's, adding that the employees will be given the first opportunity to apply for work with the new contractor.
However, the airline said the number of jobs available has been reduced to 10.
The workers will also be given the opportunity to transfer to job openings at other Porter locations.
Porter said it isn't planning any changes to flight schedules in St. John's, despite the decision.
The staffing changes will come into effect on May 1.
