Police nab more impaired drivers in metro area
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary answered 225 calls for service in the last 24 hours, including pulling over two impaired drivers in the greater St. John's area.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, the RNC responded to a vehicle accident on the Manuels Access Road.
As a result, the 36-year-old male driver was charged with impaired driving and being over the legal limit.
Police said he was also charged with assault.
The accused was released to appear in provincial court at a later date.
At a traffic safety stop on Bay Bulls Road early on Saturday, a 35-year-old man was given a seven-day suspension for blood alcohol exceeding the limit.
He was also issued a ticket for expired registration.
