Placentia Mayor Bill Hogan to retire after 44 years in politics
The long-time mayor of Placentia announced he will not be seeking re-election in Newfoundland and Labrador's municipal elections this September.
Bill Hogan has been an outspoken political leader in his community, and has been involved in municipal and provincial politics since 1969.
In a statement, Hogan thanked all of the residents in the area for their support over the years.
Hogan served as mayor of Dunville for 20 years and the MHA for Placentia for four years.
He had been in the Placentia mayor's chair from 1997 to 2001, and was elected again in 2005.
