A 24-year-old man from Placentia faces numerous charges following a police chase through the town.

RCMP tried to stop the car the man was driving early Sunday morning on Orcan Drive in Placentia to check the vehicle's registration.  When the officer turned on the cruiser's lights the driver tried to get away by turning onto side streets and increasing his speed.

He eventually stopped in the Ferndale neighbourhood, but not before throwing two plastic bags containing 15 grams of cocaine out the window.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police, taking a vehicle without permission, impaired driving by drugs and driving without a licence.

He'll be back in court in November.
