Pills, cigarettes tossed over jail fence, pair arrested
Two men are in custody after trying to make an unusual drug delivery to inmates in the jail at Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Police say on Tuesday afternoon the men threw two packages over the fence at the correctional centre. Police intercepted the packages that contained ecstasy pills and tobacco products.
The Happy Valley/Goose Bay RCMP Street Level Drug Unit located and arrested a 27-year-old man and a 37-year-old man.
Both men, who are from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, appeared in provincial court and will remain in custody until a bail hearing next week.
The men face charges including trafficking in a controlled substance.
Police say their investigation is still underway.
