Woman, 60, in serious condition after driver left scene
A woman is in serious condition in a hospital in St. John's after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said a woman, 60, was hit while walking on the sidewalk on Newfoundland Drive around 1 p.m.
According to RNC, the driver of the vehicle, a pick-up styled four-door, tan coloured H3 Hummer, didn't stop after hitting the victim.
The vehicle was headed east and went up onto the sidewalk, striking the woman, police said.
Police said the incident occurred in the area between St. Paul's School and the McDonald's restaurant on Torbay Road.
The RNC is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have information on the vehicle's whereabouts, to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
