At least one person has dropped off the list of potential replacements to former premier Kathy Dunderdale.
Child, youth and family services minister Paul Davis told CBC News that he gave the idea careful thought, but says he won't seek the leadership of the PC Party.
"I have decided that I will not be offering myself as a candidate to become the leader of the PC party," said Davis.
The minister says he never considered running until he was encouraged by many people over the last week to consider the idea.
So far, only one person — fishing industry executive Bill Barry — has confirmed he will run.
Barry is expected to make a formal announcement Wednesday in Corner Brook.
