A 22-year-old man from Corner Brook says he wants to enter the race for the Progressive Conservative leadership.

Clarence Cantwell says he works two jobs and is trying to sell his vehicle online to raise the $10,000 needed to enter the race.

Cantwell said he's also looking for Tory supporters to back him.

"I'm not just going to give up and stand in the corner and admit defeat. What I am going to do is, I'm actually going to go for it," he said.

"I would rather stand with the 10 percent of the people who actually tried than the 90 per cent who didn't. And you know what, that's what I'm going to do — try."

Cantwell said he thinks he would be a good leader to get more young people engaged in provincial politics.
