The RNC was called early Monday morning after a car hit a house in St. John's. ((CBC))

A man, 20, faces a charge of impaired driving, even though he wasn't behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a house in downtown St. John's early Monday morning.

A woman, 18, was driving the car, but she had only a learner's permit. A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer said an impaired passenger was charged because he had a valid driver's licence and was considered to be in care and control of the vehicle.

No one was injured and there was only minor damage to the house on McFarlane Street that was hit.
