The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a vehicle fire after some tense moments Saturday in a Paradise housing development.

Firefighters with the St. John's Regional Fire Department were dispatched after receiving a 911 call about a van that had caught fire on Howard Avenue.

Fire Captain Doug Cadigan said the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

"When we arrived we laid an attack line, two firefighters with breathing aparatus, and then proceeded to extinguish the fire," said Cadigan. "The two workers that were using the van doing work in the subdivision here, they were on scene when we arrived."

Cadigan added there were no injuries, but the van and all its contents were completely destroyed.
