Open liquor found after driver tries to evade police

A young man was behind bars Friday morning after he fled from police in St. John's.

A young man was behind bars Friday morning after he fled from police in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the man, 20, refused to pull over near Columbus Drive on Thursday night.

The man tried to drive away and then fled on foot, but he didn't get far.

Police found open liquor in the vehicle.

As well, his car was neither registered nor insured.

The suspect also faces charges of flight from police, resisting arrest and breaking a variety of court orders.
