North Atlantic Refining Limited says no more oil has been found in Placentia Bay, eight days after a leak from the Come By Chance refinery.

The cleanup has been ongoing since the leak was discovered Jan. 4.

The communications manager for North Atlantic, Gloria Warren-Slade, said Tuesday that two aerial surveillance surveys have been completed along 70 kilometres of coastline.

"The majority of visible oil on land has been removed and the shoreline treatment process is underway to flush additional product from the ground," wrote Warren-Slade in a statement.

More than 40 oil spill response personnel are working on the cleanup.

The only oil found on shore so far is near Bordeaux, about six kilometres southwest of Come By Chance.

North Atlantic said it is "aggressively" investigating to determine the cause of the leak.
