Oil companies struggle to keep up with demand after outage
Many people who rely on oil to heat their homes are quickly running out of fuel.
That's because oil companies in Newfoundland are having difficulty refilling their delivery trucks after Saturday's power outage.
Chris Forward, sales manager with Harvey's Oil, said his company relies on electricity to carry out its business.
"Like everything, fuel distribution centres run on electricity. So, if there is no electricity to those fuel distribution centres we cannot put fuel in our trucks. So, there has been a backlog of calls."
Orders for oil have been piling up since the power outage on the weekend.
But there are only two fuel distribution centres in St. John's, and oil trucks are backed up at both.
Several gas stations on the Avalon are also running low.
