A luxury yacht fed the rumour mill in St. John's this week when it docked in port, although speculation that The Lady M belonged to pop superstar Madonna turned out to be false.

Christopher Young says The Lady M is outfitted with many high-end features. (CBC)

The mystery was solved after the vessel's captain Christopher Young told CBC News that the $50-million yacht was being delivered to its high-ranking Russian owner.

Young said the high-speed yacht was the first one of its design.

"It's very modern. It's what they call a European design," Young said.

"Some beautiful cut crystals, some exotic woods, some hand-crafted carpets and exotic carpets, and things like that."

The Lady M was refuelling in St. John's before its transatlantic crossing. The next stop is in the Netherlands.
