A fuel spill in Mount Pearl three years ago is costing North Atlantic Petroleum a total of $100,000 in penalties.
The company pleaded guilty in provincial court on Friday to a charge of depositing deleterious substance into water.
North Atlantic was fined $25,000, and has also been ordered to pay $75,000 to the Environmental Damages Fund.
The leak happened in 2010 at the company's tank farm in Donovans Industrial Park.
In a statement issued on Friday, North Atlantic said it has taken responsibility for the "very unfortunate incident" and "immediately put plans and actions in place to remediate the impacted area."
The company added they continue to monitor and test the area regularly, and has not detected any more damage.
