Police say charges will not be laid over a fatal July 2013 incident on Newfoundland's west coast that claimed the life of a highway worker.

A GMC Sierra pickup truck slammed into a worker as a Department of Transportation and Works crew was preparing to paint lines on the Trans-Canada Highway near the community of Flat Bay.

The man, 41, lived in Cape Ray.

The RCMP's investigation into the accident determined that no criminal charges will be laid against the driver of the vehicle.
