People in Grand Falls-Windsor are mourning the loss of a father and son who were killed in Alberta last Friday.
Herb Lane, 50, and Jonathan Lane, 24, were in a pickup that collided with a transport truck on Highway 43 near the town of Valleyview in northwestern Alberta.
Police say the icy road was a factor in the accident.
Pentecostal church pastor Robert Parsons knew the men for six years.
“They sat together in the front as a complete family," Parsons said. "Certainly a pew that's going to be empty ... that's going to be difficult to adjust to."
The Lanes had been working in Alberta and were on their way home to Newfoundland when the accident happened.
